POST-OPERATIVE NAIL INSTRUCTIONS

  • Keep dressing clean and dry for 24 hours after the nail procedure. Do not remove the dressing.

  • After 24 hours, soak your foot, with the dressing on, for ten minutes in room temperature water with dilute soap or Epsom salts. This will allow the dressing to be removed easily.

  • Clean the toe after soaking, especially the nail folds, with a Q-tip. You may use hydrogen peroxide to help clean the edges of the nail and nail fold. Place a dry bandage over the nail.

  • Soak the area once a day for seven days after the procedure. It is normal to see some drainage from the toe during this time.

  • Elevate the affected foot when at home to alleviate pain and swelling.

  • You may take over the counter medicines (whatever you normally take for headache type pain) if you experience any pain or discomfort in the toe after the procedure.

  • If you experience any problems or have any questions, please call the office.
